Free-Registration Offer Extended for Media Buyers
CLIFTON, N.J. -- August 1, 2006 -- CampusAdTrader, the online marketplace for buying and selling print, online and classified advertising in U.S. college newspapers, announced today that it will extend its offer for media buyers to join the site at no charge through December 31 of this year. The site is located at http://www.CampusAdTrader.com.
CampusAdTrader, which debuted in July 2005, originally offered to waive the $25 registration fee for media buyers through July 31, 2006. The decision to extend the offer through the end of December was made in response to numerous inquiries since that time about the possibility of extending the offer.
The site plans to implement the registration fee next Spring as a way to offset its operating costs and provide an exclusive community of buyers to its member college newspapers, which sell their ad space through the online service. CampusAdTrader does not charge newspapers to register or list space for sale in their publication, but charges them a commission on their advertising sales completed through the site.
"We are pleased to extend this offer and encourage media buyers to take advantage of it and sign up," said Matt Farlie, Director of Business Development for Collegiate Presswire, CampusAdTrader's corporate parent. "It only takes a minute to register, and once you have an account, you can start bidding on and buying ad space immediately."
CampusAdTrader has two important features -- in addition to a helpful e-mail newsletter -- available only to its registered media buyers to help them acquire advertising space in their desired college publications:
* First, its "AuctionWatch" service lets buyers define a list of keywords (such as school or paper names) to watch for. When a new listing matches those keywords, the user will receive an email with a link to the auction so they can bid on it or purchase it outright.
* Second, its "HotLeads" system lets buyers pick-and-choose from a comprehensive list of more than 800 college newspapers across the country. When they select a newspaper, "HotLeads" sends out an e-mail alerting the paper that there is a willing (yet anonymous) buyer on the site and encourages them to post their available space for sale.
Since its inception, the site has caused a stir in the college media industry -- one noted for paper-based transactions and phone-based negotiations. By applying Web-based auction technology to the media-buying process, CampusAdTrader helps buyers deal directly with the newspapers selling ad space -- saving them time and money in the process.
